Andrew Murdoch was born in Sri Lanka and spent his childhood in Sussex. He studied Architecture at Pembroke College Cambridge, but his painting both illuminated and disrupted his studies and he had a solo exhibition in his College in his final year. He now works as a practicing Architect and often sketches and illustrates the practices’ designs for clients in his large busy studio in Kings Cross. As an artist, Murdoch has a particular interest in the urban fabric of London, preoccupied by the way we see colour and space between and beyond buildings in the urban landscape. He uses oils, gouache and pen and ink to depict these scenes.
Andrew Murdoch's work is collected in both the UK and USA and he is regularly commissioned to illustrate specific buildings or urban scenes.
